SBCC Strategy Development Workshop

Growth Through Nutrition’s research into adolescent and maternal nutrition behaviors and determinants was showcased during a three-day workshop held from May 2-4, 2018 at the Ambassador Hotel in Addis Ababa. The workshop was held to disseminate these research findings and further develop the Social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) strategy for the project. The SBCC strategy consequently conceived would be designed to help improve nutrition outcomes for children, adolescent girls and pregnant and lactating women.

Menu Planning Game for Improved Dietary Diversity and Increased Frequency of Eating/Feeding-Tigringa

The revised version includes a 1 square meter vinyl mat with printed images of 3 large bowls (for meals) and 2 small bowls (for snacks); a set of laminated food cards that include a variety of animal source foods, nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables, staple foods, breastmilk, and also non-nutritious/junk foods (e.g. candy and sweets, biscuits, carbinated beverages); and written instructions for the facilitator.

Includes a 1 square meter vinyl mat with printed images of nutrient-dense foods, staple foods, luxury items, soap, water treatment tablets, school uniforms, cooking fuel, alcohol and other common household purchases; 56 laminated cards indicating different Ethiopian currencies ('play money'); and written instructions for the facilitator.
